Promoting Community Safety through Rehabilitation

For more than 108 years, Volunteers of America has provided services to help offenders successfully transition from prison to the community.  The goal of Volunteers of America’s correction programs is to provide individuals the needed services and treatments to assist in reentering society as a positive and productive contributor to society. These programs not only provide the formerly incarcerated with life-changing services, but through these programs the community is directly impacted through the positive changes seen in the lives of the offenders.

The Pogue Rehabilitation Center, located in Cincinnati, and McMahon Rehabilitation Center, located in Dayton, are halfway houses providing services to formerly incarcerated men who are on probation and in the process of reentry into the community.  The services provided address issues of chronic mental health, substance abuse, daily life skills, and employment retention.  Professionals, using a team treatment approach, provide ongoing individual and group services in collaboration with the individual and parole officer to meet each individual’s needs.

P.A.S.S.A.G.E.S. Program

Positive Attitude Supports Self Achievement Growth Energy & Success (P.A.S.S.A.G.E.S.) is an intensive outpatient program providing drug and alcohol treatment for Hamilton County Probationers.   This day reporting program is set up as a diversion from jail for those on probation for drug and/or alcohol offenses.

The mission of the P.A.S.S.A.G.E.S. program is to provide education, encouragement and support in order to empower individuals who have substance abuse issues and other social problems.  The program incorporates a holistic approach to remove barriers that hinder individuals from leading productive lifestyles, provides an assessment of employment needs, and assists clients in networking and linkage with the community.
