Our Cincinnati Action Teams consist of junior and senior high school students from Seton, Elder and Oak Hills High Schools.   Each school selects Team Captains who work together with Volunteers of America Ohio River Valley and the Major League Baseball Players Trust to train the next generation of community service volunteers.

During the 2007-08 school year, the Team Captains engaged other high school students to perform community service projects in the Cincinnati area.  They worked on 3 service projects that included working with the Hamilton County Park District to clean up Fernbank Park, a canned food drive during sporting events, and a landscaping project at a home for disabled adults.

On May 13, 2008, the Team Captains were recognized for their outstanding volunteer service at Great American Ball Park by the Major League Baseball Players Trust and Cincinnati Reds players Ken Griffey, Jr., Josh Fogg, David Ross, and Javier Valentin.

Action Teams is an expanding teen volunteer initiative created and administered by Volunteers of America and the Major League Baseball Players Trust.   The purpose of Action Teams is to work with local high school students to encourage involvement in helping others in their communities.  Currently, there are Action Teams in 16 U.S. cities.
